Giant Padlock, Fortress Storage, Boston, MA
This giant lock and chain is finally back on the side of the
eight story high Fortress Storage building adjacent to Interstate 93 in Boston,
MA. This landmark has been on the side of the building for decades, only
removed the last several years as the building underwent renovation. The inflatable
lock weighs 700 pounds and is 32 feet tall by 20 feet wide. Due to Boston’s
harsh winters they take it down and store in the facility. The lock is often
taken down also because it is often used for target practice as vandals drive
across the bridge from Andrew Square. If you can look closely you can see bullet
holes in the side of the building.
