Snake and Eagle Rock, Marlborough and Amston, CT
On opposite sides of the same highway. Eagle Rock on the edge of Amston, CT the other outside of Marlborough but on Rt 66. Prior to this the eagle was painted as a frog and it was not uncommon for the rock to be pelted with bottles as locals drove by say "hit the frog". Turned to Eagle Rock in 1987 the town now has volunteers who maintain these beautifully painted outcroppings, it is the pride of Hebron. Narrow roads and not much room to pull over but worth the stop. The snake is very impressive. they say it is a cross between a snake and a turtle because they have painted the rocks that resemble a snakes body.
