The Golden Lamb, Oldest Hotel in Ohio, Lebanon, OH
Since 1803, in the center of Lebanon, OH the Golden Lamb Hotel (Oldest Hotel in Ohio) has stood on South Broadway.It only cost its original owner $4 to license and operate a "house of public entertainment" This was originally a stagecoach stop between Cincinnati and US Route 40.
This is an inn of presidents, as many presidents and famous guests stayed at the Golden Lamb, including 12 presidents: William Henry and Benjamin Harrison, John Quincy Adams, Van Buren, Grant, Hayes, Garfield, McKinley, Harding, Taft, Reagan, and GW Bush. Also, famous guest such as Harriet Beecher Stoewe, Mark Twain, James Whitcomb Riley, and Charles Dickens. The Golden Lamb began as a small tavern in a log tavern called the Black Horse owned by by Ichabod Corwin in 1798, This beautiful historic well preserved hotel is an incredible walk through history.
Oh, and by the way "Haunted" by the child ghost of Sara Stubbs, who after her father's sudden death, and moving into this hotel, was upset with her new surroundings and the loss of her father. She went on to live to a ripe old age of 79. But her spirit remained as a child as she haunts the guest at the Golden Lamb, Room 4A on the fourth floor. She is often seen standing in the room playing with her toys.
