The Jello Museum located in LeRoy, NY where Jello was
invented in1897 by Pearl B. Wait, a cough syrup manufacturer who produced this
pre-packaged Gelatin that was named Jell-o by his wife. Wait sold the patent
and recipe to Frank Woodward who gave Wait enough to buy the house he wanted in
town for $450. This was the beginning of free sample marketing that drove housewives who received the product from door-to-door salesman right to the store.
The rest is history. If you are traveling between Rochester and Buffalo this is a must-see.
The Jell-O Gallery museum is operated by the Le Roy Historical Society - Take the tour. (Especially if you ask for Joan who will find you regardless of whether you want to take the tour or not.
