Giant Clothespin, Philadelphia, PA

Giant Clothespin, Philadelphia, PA

Located at Centre Square on 1500 Market Street in Philadelphia, PA, this Giant Clothes Pin was commissioned by developer Jack Wolgin, sculpted by Claes Oldenburg, and is part of Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority's 1% for art program. The Clothespin is said to be modeled after Constantin Brancusi’s well-known sculpture The Kiss in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. All over the world you can see Oldenburg,s influential art: Giant Lipstick, Garden Hose, Flashlight, Spoon bridge and Cherry, Shuttle Cocks and Flying Bowling Pins.
