Turtle Playground, St. Louis, MO

Turtle Playground, St. Louis, MO

The Turtle Playground designed by sculptor and entrepreneur Bob Cassilly sits across the over pass adjacent to the St. Louis Zoo and next to busy Highway 40. A St. Louis resident, I was also surprised to know he is  also the founder of the City Museum in St. Louis.  The Turtle Playground, has a lot of turtles, snapping turtles, soft shelled, a red eared slider (?), box turtles and an amazing snake that winds its way through the small overpass hillside. Apparently the three large turtles are named Richard, Sally, and Tom. These are dedicated to Mrs. Sonya (Sunny) Glassberg, who donated the playground to Forest Park. The four small turtles are named for her grandchildren Antonio, David, Adam, and Emily.
